The making of Split/Second – Part 1 of video series

More On: Split/Second
“Making of” videos are always fascinating to me if they’re done right. I love getting insight into a game further than (to use a game-appropriate example): “how do I use the crane to flip that guy’s car over while racing past this freeway?”

About half of this first making of Split/Second video discusses what we already know: the basic storyline premise as well as the idea of being able to not only race your opponents, but to throw various life-threatening obstacles their way as well. The other half of the video will mainly take a look at the visuals and the developers explain that they wanted to go for a more cinematic look as opposed to a simulation.

Hopefully the continuation of the video series will result in some more details.

Today Disney Interactive Studios has released the Making of Video #1 for Split/Second, the action racing game from Black Rock Studio. Set within the world of a fictional reality TV show, Split/Second players don't just try to race to the finish line - they trigger explosive events that alter the track to take out opponents or create short cuts.

Split/Secondis rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older and will be available in North America on May 18th, 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. Winner of the prestigious Game Critics Award as Best Racing Game of E3, Split/Second has a SRP of $59.99 for Xbox 360 and PS3 and $49.99 for Windows PC.
