Kane and Lynch, arguably one of gaming’s most infamous duos, is coming back with Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
. The title is set to be released by Eidos on August 24, 2010 in North America. The original game, launched back in 2007, lit a firestorm debate in the gaming industry regarding media and developer relations. The game itself was average, but saw success thanks to the controversy around it. The final sales of the project were enough to warrant a sequel from IO and Eidos.
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
reunites the due in the shadows of Shanghai. The folks at IO Interactive claim that they have taken the game back to the drawing board(s) and re-designed it from the ground up. The game is said to resemble a documentary in terms of its style and presentation. This time around, Lynch is going to be the one sitting in the driver’s seat and the story will focus mainly on him and his new found life in Shanghai. I enjoyed the first game myself and felt is was definitely worth my playing through… hopefully the sequel can take the game to the next level and make it something that more people can enjoy.
It should also be noted that Eidos and IO are ramping up the marketing of the game with an offer available through the official web site
. Players who go to the web site and register will receive a free map pack for the multiplayer mode of the game when it launches. The “Heat Maps” map pack will be given to registrants after August 24 though details on what exactly is included in that pack are scarce at this time.
