Sweet Emotion

More On: PLAYSTATION 3
One of the things that made me buy a PlayStation 3 early on was Sony's move to remove the PS2 Emotion Engine chip from the PS3 so that there wasn't any backwards compatibility with the PlayStation 2. Well Siliconera has unearthed a patent that would allow the Cell processor to emulate the Emotion Engine. It's such a simple idea I don't know why they didn't think of this early on. With this method, ANY PS3 would be able to play PS2 games no matter when you bought it. Is it too late though or does anyone really care anymore?
