Spellborn Preview Will Have Gamers Spellbound

More On: The Chronicles of Spellborn
The latest preview of The Chronicles of Spellborn will have gamers waiting for a different kind of MMO intrigued. Kotaku had a chance to preview Spellborn at Games Convention in Leipzig last week and has shared its impressions. From character creation that actually allows you to express your own personal style to a combat system that takes the target, execute attack pattern and repeat out of encounters, Spellborn has something fresh to offer MMO fans.

Character creation gives players great control over their human or daevi physique allowing for extremes in height and weight. Armor and enhancements are added via mystic sigils so that you can chose your own style and keep it as long as you want. No more mismatched clown outfits, unless that does it for you. In combat, you actually have to watch your target rather than the order you're clicking on your abilities. As much as I enjoy MMOs, repeating the same pattern of skills for each MOB of the same type gets old fast. It may take a bit more skill to be actively involved in the whole combat process, but victory would certainly feel more rewarding.

I'm really looking forward to the chance to form my own opinions of gameplay and mechanics for The Chronicles of Spellborn. Until I get my hands on it, I'll have to settle for living vicariously through Kotaku.
