Some more details about the PS3 online service

Gamasutra has a few more details on the online service for the PS3.  The interesting point for me is that Sony is allowing publishers to host their own servers for the games (which is kind of an extension of the PS2 service).  I'm curious to see if this means that publishers will be able to charge gamers for playing their games online or not.  So while the Sony service may be free for all, publishers could charge you $3-5 to play more to play the game online.  The article has a few other interesting tidbits about the possibility of micropayments, and "entitlements" but that's what stuck out the most to me.
