Slow as Sunday: Sega has the power!

SEGA seems to be shuffling the deck a bit in the name of creating a stronger global synergy. Mr. Naoya Tsurumi is now the big cheese overseeing the Japanese, North American, and European branches of SEGA. You know what they say about absolute power... Under him Mike Hayes will be both the president and COO of SEGA of America and Sega of Europe branches effectively making him second in command for those markets with Mr. Hayes reporting directly to Mr. Tsurumi.

“This unified organization will better position SEGA for growth across these key markets,” said Mr. Tsurumi.
Mr. Hayes added “I’m delighted to be heading up the SEGA Western territories at such an exciting time in the company’s resurgence as a leading videogame publisher around the globe...The management changes announced today will ensure that SEGA’s Consumer Business is positioned for long-term growth and success.”

This shift in the power structure of SEGA will mean, ideally, a more united focus and unified direction. Generally less people at the top means things get done faster but can they manage to steer the course for all projects while maintaining a consistent quality of games produced? I'm sure by this time next year we will see the evidence of how this change in structure will affect the future of SEGA.
