Shrapnel Games is celebrating its 8th birthday, but they aren't asking for any gifts.  In fact, they're giving you some, in the form of big, chunky discounts on their indie-house strategy-centric titles.  Games like Air Assault Task Force -- hit the link for our reviews on these -- (GN score 8.0), Dominions 3: The Awakening (GN score 8.7), The Falklands War: 1982 (GN score 7.0), Raging Tiger: The Second Korean War (GN score 6.9), and The Star and the Crescent (GN score 6.0).  These games are typically for the armchair strategist -- and not the faint-of-heart kind either.  Stop by shrapnelgames.com if you're ready for a challenge, and a discount.

Shrapnel Games Celebrates Year Eight!
Massive Anniversary Savings Commemorates The Occasion!

Hampstead, NC, 09 July 2007

As the 20th century began to draw to a close the world of computer gaming, enjoying a
popularity previously unheard of, had started a transformation.  In the new, corporate
driven world of PC gaming innovative craftsmen were replaced by generic East European
code teams, bleeding edge graphics trumped artistic expression, and entire genres that
didn't fit in with the new marketing buzzwords were excised.  For gamers who had grown
up loving games for what they offered, and not because they were the fad-of-the-week, it
was the beginning of a dark time.

Eight years ago to this day the darkness was pierced.  Tim Brooks, designer of such titles
as Wages of War (New Worlds Computing/3DO), Soldiers at War (SSI), and the best
selling and critically acclaimed, 101st: The Airborne Invasion of Normandy (Empire
Interactive), challenged the mainstream groupthink that computer gaming had become
and unleashed Shrapnel Games onto the world.  With an initial focus on his love for
wargaming, Shrapnel Games soon expanded to delivering gamers the best gaming in the
genres that the "big" guys had forsaken.

When asked about starting Shrapnel Games, president and founder Tim Brooks said, "I
had no idea that Shrapnel Games would become the most successful niche publisher of
War and Strategy Games.  I think you can look at our competition to see just how
successful we have been.  It is truly amazing, the number of companies that have copied
our business model. As we enter our 9th year, we are looking to offer greater quality,
unique games in the War and Strategy genre."

In the past eight years fans and pundits around the globe have enjoyed the offerings of
Shrapnel Games, and Shrapnel Games has stayed true to its vision of offering unique
games in a multitude of genres.  A wonderful community of enthusiastic gamers has been
with us since the beginning, and for our eighth year in business we want to thank
everyone who has made our continuing success possible.
