Up until a couple years ago it was pretty rare to see any kind of Nintendo content cross over into other IPs, even in ports exclusive to Nintendo hardware. Link's inclusion in Soul Calibur 2 on the GameCube was a big deal, and made that version of the game a top seller. Thankfully Nintendo is more diplomatic with their IPs these days, as we've seen with all the Nintendo-themed costumes in the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 port for Wii U.
It turns out Scribblenauts Unlimited
is getting some Nintendo love as well. The Wii U version will supposedly let you spawn characters and items from the Mario and Zelda series using the iconic Scribblenauts notepad. I can't tell you the number of times I wanted to pit the Hylian royal guard against a radioactive robot dinosaur, and now it looks like that dream will be a reality. Of course as a lapsed Nintendo fanboy I'd love to shake all my favorite franchises into Scribblenauts, with some StarFox, Metroid, Kirby and Pikmin causing chaos at Maxwell's whim, but that might be flying too close to the sun. Come to think of it that kind of sounds like a typical Smash Bros. match.
TO INCLUDE ICONIC NINTENDO CHARACTERS
FROM THE MARIO AND LEGEND OF ZELDA FRANCHISES
