Saitek Selects Cypress's WirelessUSB for Market-Leading Cyborg evo Wireless PC Joystick

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2005--Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) announced today that Saitek -- a leading manufacturer of PC Gaming controllers -- has selected Cypress's WirelessUSB(TM) radio-system-on-a-chip to provide wireless connectivity for its Cyborg evo Wireless PC joystick.

Saitek manufactures and sells a range of PC game controllers, including joysticks, pads and wheels. The company launched its first PC game controller in 1994 and by 2004 had taken the number two worldwide position, dominating the flight simulation sector.

The Cyborg evo Wireless is the world's only adjustable wireless stick and features a fully customizable head and stick to enable left- and right-handers to find their optimum gaming position. Using Cypress's WirelessUSB technology, the joystick enables gamers to play their PC games from a distance of up to 10m (30ft) without the hassle of wires and without interference from other wireless products.

"When we decided to expand our award-winning Cyborg range with a wireless model, we needed a 2.4 GHz technology solution to enable multiple player games, a range of at least 10 meters, and 50 hours of gameplay from a single battery," said Simon Bell, Principal Engineer at Saitek. "Cypress WirelessUSB delivered on all of these requirements with a compact and easily integrated solution."

"We are proud to have been selected to provide wireless connectivity by an-industry leader such as Saitek," said Rich Kapusta, director of marketing for WirelessUSB products at Cypress. "WirelessUSB's benefits such as reliability, interference immunity, excellent co-location capability, range and power are leading to design wins in multiple markets. WirelessUSB is increasingly driving the wireless revolution."

The Saitek Cyborg evo Wireless is now available in the USA and Europe from most consumer electronic stores or online.
