While the console may cost more, this graph on VGChartz
shows that in all reality the sales of both consoles are pretty much equal if you are comparing the first year of their life cycle. Given that the PlayStation 3 is a lot more expensive than the 360, you can see this is a nice little feat but the caveat is that a lot of the sales can probably be attributed to it being a cheaper Blu-Ray player. I know if I wasn't interested in gaming and just wanted a Blu-Ray player I'd go for the PlayStation 3. I've yet to pick up a Blu-Ray movie for the console though as I'd rather wait to see who really comes out on top of the HD race rather than spending money on a format that's not going to win out.
