How many Civilization or Sim City players have ever wondered "where does all the money come from"? That's what the Patrician
series is all about. With all the trappings of a 4x game, Patrician 4
isn't about conquering cities as much as balancing the books and forming a financial empire. The latest video released by Kalypso
shows that buying and selling aren't enough to expand your empire. Investing in land and workers to obtain the resources you trade is as important as getting a good deal on barrels of salt.
Building the Hanseatic League: "Patrician IV" Feature Video Released
Ridgewood, NJ, August 26, 2010 - Kalypso Media, an international publisher of PC and console entertainment, today released a new feature video for Patrician IV: Conquest by Trade, their upcoming trading simulation that casts players in the role of a middle-ages era merchant. This new video gives an overview of the construction features within the game - showing how players, through the shrewd use of the town architect, can plan and build new structures and businesses, which are key to expanding the player's trading empire. For more information about Patrician IV: Conquest by Trade, the latest title in the Patrician series, which will release in September for Windows PC, please visit www.patrician4.com.
Originally released in 1992 for the Amiga and Atari ST, the Patrician brand has sold over 2 million units worldwide, and has earned the respect of strategy gamers the world over. Patrician IV will build upon the already solid reputation of its predecessors with a whole new art style combined with a redesigned and newcomer-friendly trading simulation engine.
In Patrician IV, the player takes on the role of a young merchant in the area of the Baltic and North Sea during the late Middle Ages, the zenith of the Hanseatic League and its naval trading empire.
Starting from meager beginnings as a small stall trader, players must use every skill at their disposal to rise through the merchant ranks and become the most powerful merchant in Europe. The authentic supply and demand-based trading system allows players to grow their business and head out to the high seas to form trading routes with other Hanseatic cities negotiating better prices for the buying and selling of goods.
Patrician IV is being developed by Gaming Minds Studios GmbH, a studio created with members of the original Patrician development team, and will be available on Windows PC in September.
