In a shift from its previous business model, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co, Parent company of
Panasonic, has announced the intent to assume controlling interest in a joint LCD venture held with Hitachi and Toshiba according to the
Forbes article I read. Up until this point, Panasonic has backed Plasma screens in the large television segment. This is great news for gamers, as adding another name brand company to the already competitive flat-panel LCD market will only help to drive down costs and bring better products to market. I have an appointment with Panasonic at CES and hope to get some info on their future plans for LCD televisions.
