PS3 owners finally get down and DiRTy

by: Randy -
Until developers can nail down the PlayStation 3's hardware, many games are going to be stuck with two release dates:  The one for the PS3, and the one for every other console on the planet, which was already released three months ago.  Case in point -- DiRT: Colin McRae Off-Road.  It's going for $59.99 and is rated "E."

Burbank, CA - Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - Racing junkies can now get the adrenaline pumping drive of their lives this week as Codemasters announces that DiRT has shipped to retail for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.  The game that turns traditional rally racing into a cavalcade of off-road competitions, DiRT is available at U.S. retail outlets nationwide for a suggested retail price of $59.99 and is rated "E" (Everyone - Alcohol Reference, Mild Language, Mild Violence) by the ESRB.

Featuring a massive range of off-road racing experiences on gravel, mud and dirt, players will get their fix of throwing 45 vehicles, including 2WD, 4WD, Classic and RWD cars, through the most challenging and treacherous stages, tracks and circuits all over the world.

In addition to superlative rally stages, DiRT delivers an exhilarating series of multiple car events as detailed in the all new video that features exclusive PLAYSTATION 3 system footage and is now available to view from www.codemasters.com/dirt in 'Downloads'.

Introduced by DiRT's Chief Games Designer Matt Horsman of Codemasters Studios, the video spotlights multiple car events, including Rally Raid, where players race in super powered SUVs and Dakar-style trucks across grueling desert terrain, and Rally Cross where the course switches between dirt and road surfaces.  There's also footage from the two-car chase duels of the Crossover circuits and from the Championship Off-Road Racing (C.O.R.R.) events, which combine powerful off-road buggies with thrilling dirt tracks featuring tabletop jumps and drop-offs for an intoxicating mix.

In addition to the video, the DiRT website is also the place for the community to share their love of all things dirty in the all-new 'Dirty Pictures' section.  Be sure to visit www.codemasters.com/dirt and hit the 'Upload Your Dirty Pictures' button.  The Dirty Pictures section is a gallery that showcases all manner of real-life filthy fun, from the muddiest cars to the grubbiest people.
