According to this article
at Gamespot, the PS3's hard drive will not come standard with the system and may include a version of the Linux operating software. I'm a little disappointed that the hard drive won't be included out of the box as it's going to impact developer support for the device. As for the Linux thing I'm not really sure what that really has to do with the bigger picture. He mentions that he wants people to recognize the device as more than a console but I'm not sure what putting a separate OS on it is going to do unless you allow people to attach a keyboard and mouse and maybe toss in a web browser and a few other applications. I guess we'll see how it all pans out in a few months.
