Now Playing: Infinite Defiance edition

The next Xbox's always-online drama hit fever pitch this week, while pre-retail reviews had Ouya devs feeling all QQ, and the new Torment's Kickstarter only asked for $900K but got $4.2M instead--WHAT DO?

What are you playing this weekend?

I decided to give Skyrim a rest for a bit to look through my Steam catalog and see what I haven't played in a while...or at all.  I recently started up Metro 2033 and so far it's not too bad.  I also got back into a quirky little puzzle game called The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom.  I'll probably focus on those two for a bit, with maybe some Skyrim on the side just for some miscellaneous leveling.

I'm locked into Defiance as my current review piece. Quite an interesting take on a third-person shooter with the MMO elements.  Definitely a risk by Trion, but I'm enjoying myself and keep going back to it whenever I get a chance. It's just a lot of fun.

This will be a "bide my time until Injustice: Gods Among Us comes out next week" weekend in terms of games. I'll probably be playing Dead or Alive 5 and Left 4 Dead 2 as they are perfect time wasters. I should have waited until this weekend to beat BioShock Infinite, but the story was so great that I just had to keep playing. Finally, I'll be trying to get further in Virtue's Last Reward for the PS Vita. Incredibly addicting, incredibly fun.

I'm finally starting to get good at FIFA 13, so that, and probably some BioShock Infinite 1999 Mode, and also probably some Mass Effect 3. I've got a million Shepards to run through the Citadel DLC.

And when I'm not doing that, I'll be performing occult rituals designed to destroy the idea of a video game console you can't play if the power goes out at your local cable substation, they decide to interrupt cable service so your box can download a firmware update for two hours, or their crappy tech simply flakes out. I already can't watch TV when that happens, now Microsoft wants to take away my Xbox when I need it the most. It's pure evil, if you ask me, and the only way to combat pure evil is with pure evil.

I couldn't resist Steam's midweek madness and picked up all five episodes of The Walking Dead for $10. So I guess we'll see if it gives me a permanent case of white knuckles or just reduces me to conflicted, indecisive tears. Stay tuned for updates?

My mad, morbid tour of Sigil the "City of Doors" continues in Planescape: Torment. The introductory chapter in the Mortuary exposes bodily viscera and fixates on biological breakdowns, while my tentative first steps into the Hive outdoors exposes people's mental dementia and psychological breakdowns. I hope my disembodied flying skull buddy, Morte, can keep the punchlines going, because this is going to be a dark, dark 30 to 40 hours.

After finishing BioShock Infinite, I'm at a loss as to what to play. I can't pull myself into putting more time into SimCity. Looking at my Steam catalog, I guess I'll try and play through XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I've been meaning to do that and maybe some more StarCraft II Left 2 Die. I played with Travis over the weekend and it's a nice little RTS take on zombies.
