Neo Geo on Virtual Console?

You bet.  SNK's legendary monster is coming to the little white Wii.
For a bit of history, the Neo Geo was the PS3 of the 16-bit era.  It launched with a coma-inducing $650 price tag, and the cartriges started at $200.  The reason?  They were huge for their day, up to 330 megabit.  Back then this beast could pump out the fastest, prettiest graphics around, which for arcade enthusiasts justified the exorbitant price.  Now?  They'll go for about 9 bucks on the VC.
I'm just worried about storage space.  Download a few Neo Geo games, and your Wii memory will disappear in a flash (no pun intended).  That external hard drive, or even play-from-SD-card functionality, is looking really good right about now.  Are you listening Nintendo?  Hard Drive?  SD Card?  No, I didn't think you were... 


SNK to Release Classic NEOGEO Arcade Games on Wii(tm) Virtual Console(tm)

Wall, NJ - Sep 12, 2007 SNK PLAYMORE USA CORPORATION, the U.S. publishing arm of the SNK PLAYMORE CORPORATION, today announced that the Company will release several of their greatest NEOGEO arcade games via the Virtual Console(tm) feature on Wii(tm). Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points(tm) to download these classic games through the Wii Shop Channel. D4Enterprise, Inc., headquartered in Tokyo, will manage the release of the titles.

Key NEOGEO titles will include "Fatal Fury," "World Heroes," and "Art of Fighting." Each title is expected to cost 900 Wii Points. More titles will follow over the coming months
