More On: The Movies
In the latest cross media promotion, John Malkovich has given Activision the rights to include his line of clothing in their game The Movies.  Users can now download clothing items from the "Uncle Kimono" collection of clothing from Mr. Malkovich's clothing company by going to the Prop Shop and spending their virtual credits on the line.  Kind of a cool cross promotion and since it doesn't cost gamers anything (you earn credits by creating and uploading movies to the Movies website) it is a pretty cool idea.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ACTIVISION INKS DEAL WITH JOHN MALKOVICH’S UNCLE KIMONO CLOTHING LINE FOR LIONHEAD® STUDIOS’ THE MOVIESâ„¢

Santa Monica, CA – December 22, 2005 – When the paparazzi in Lionhead Studios’ The Movies game shout, “Who are you wearing?” virtual stars will now respond, “John Malkovich, Uncle Kimono!”  Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) has signed a deal with the popular actor’s clothing company to have clothing from his “Uncle Kimono” Collection featured as downloadable costumes for outfitting the stars in The Movies, which is currently available in retail stores nationwide.

In January, players will be able to log on to www.themoviesgame.com, go to the Prop Shop and use virtual credits earned from creating and uploading movies to the web site to purchase John Malkovich “Uncle Kimono” outfits for their stars.  Malkovich says the collection “has resonance of late 1950’s California beach boys, some Palm Springs Rat Pack, a touch of lounge lizards, and a recollection of a Swiss banker who’s been let go.”  More information about Malkovich’s clothing line can be found at www.johnmalkovich.org.

Launched on December 16, 2005, the Prop Shop will be updated regularly with a host of new costumes, sets, and props for players to download and use in their cinematic masterpieces.

The Movies for Windows® PC allows gamers to become Hollywood players by creating unique movies and releasing them from the studios they build, starring the actors they discover and develop.  The game is available now for a suggested retail price of $49.99 and is rated “T” (Teen with blood and gore, crude humor, mild language, sexual themes, use of alcohol and tobacco, and violence) by the ESRB.  The Premiere Edition version of The Movies for Windows PC is available for a suggested retail price of $59.99 and is rated the same.
