Ben Fritz at Variety's Cut Scene blog has
posted that the rights to create Lord of the Rings video games are now owned by Warner Brothers. EA had owned the rights since 2001 and while they cranked out a few decent games based on the franchise they really didn't crank out anything that really stood out from the crowd. This is in line with EA's recent policy of moving away from licensed games to new IP's and should give the franchise a breath of fresh air that the franchise needs. Of course this means we probably won't see another LOTR game for a few years but after
Lord of the Rings:Conquest I think we all agree that's a good thing.
