Like making animals?

More On: World of Zoo
If you're feeling particularly god-like but were burned by Spore's hype and irritating DRM, THQ might have an alternative for you. World of Zoo is coming to Wii, DS and PC this November, and like Spore they're giving you an early try at the creature creator that comes bundled with it. Once you've downloaded the tool from the official site and built some animals, you can send screenshots of them via email and even upload your creatures into the final PC version of the game.

I'm sure most gamers' inclination is to construct horribly broken mutants that would give Charles Darwin nightmares, but with the diversity we saw in Spore there's potential for a lot of creativity. Let's just see if it's possible to create an organic Wii remote again.

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – September 1, 2009 – THQ Inc. today announced the launch of its World of Zoo video game Web site, www.worldofzoo.com, which includes a trial application of the company’s new and innovative downloadable Animal Creator tool that will allow players to create and design their very own World of Zoo animals.  The Animal Creator program is a new and unique feature available only in World of Zoo, which is scheduled to be released to all major retail outlets for Wii home video game system, Nintendo DS, and Windows PC in November 2009.

Using the Animal Creator program, players will be able to create their favorite zoo animals, save them on their hard drive, and share them with their families and friends via e-mail and other social networking or photo sharing sites.  Players can also upload their customized animals into the full retail version of the Windows PC game once it is available, place the animals in their exhibits, and interact and play with them.   With the Animal Creator, players can create and customize an endless number of animals with different names, colors, traits, and personalities.

About World of Zoo

World of Zoo is a new, original property from THQ that literally hands players the keys to their very own zoo.  With more than 90 different animals to care for, players will be able to develop hands-on relationships with some of the world’s most amazing animals, create and customize their own zoo exhibits, and learn educational fun facts provided by National Geographic about each of the animals they encounter.  Each animal is unique and special, and it is up to the players to discover what their favorite activities and items are, as well as how to gain the animal’s trust.  As players progress through the game, they will unlock various items, earn awards, and acquire keeper promotions to become the ultimate zookeeper.
