The Bioware press release really strokes the ego of Jack Wall, the composer for the original Mass Effect
. The score he created was quite good and fit well with the action on screen, so it's nice to hear that he's returning for work on Mass Effect 2
. (In my opinion, anything is better than the all-male Gregorian chants from the Halo series.)
Dr. Muzyka from Bioware sums it up rather well:
“Jack did an outstanding job with the original game and has a firm grasp for our vision of the trilogy. His score for Mass Effect 2 perfectly blends classic sci-fi inspired sounds with unique arrangements to achieve an emotionally charged complement to the dramatic, action-packed gameplay.”
A lot of anticipation has been building up for Mass Effect 2
so at least we don't have to worry about the music!
