If you love Warhammer 40K but have always been intimidated by RTS games, starting on April 20th you'll be able to purchase and download the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution cooperative mode known as Last Stand as a separate entity without needing to own a copy of Retribution or have any experience with RTS games.

Then, if you like it, you can upgrade to the full experience and play the competitive multiplayer and/or the single player campaign at a reduced price.

You can download the content from Steam for 10 dollars as soon as it's available.

The popular co-operative Last Stand™ mode from Warhammer® 40,000®: Dawn of War® II - Retribution™ will be released as a standalone downloadable title expected to go live on 20th April.

Warhammer® 40,000®: Dawn of War® II - Retribution™- The Last Standalone™ will allow new comers to play all of the content available for the Last Stand without the need to own a copy of Retribution or any experience with RTS games. Players who then wish to experience competitive multiplayer or the single player campaign for Dawn of War II – Retribution can then upgrade their product to the full version at reduced price.

Jeff Lydell, Producer of Dawn of War II Retribution commented:
“We saw this as a unique opportunity to introduce new players to the Dawn of War franchise as well as expanding the player base for the already popular Last Stand mode.”

Warhammer® 40,000®: Dawn of War® II - Retribution™- The Last Standalone™ is scheduled to be available to purchase from Steam for $10 on 20th April.

About Retribution

It is ten years since the events of Chaos Rising and Sub-Sector Aurelia has been in a constant state of warfare with the Imperium struggling to retain control. The apparent betrayal of the chapter by Gabriel Angelos and his Space Marines has shaken the Blood Ravens and now the Imperial forces are beset on all sides by hostile aliens. Retribution allows the player to select the race of their choosing in a battle to determine the very survival or destruction of the entire sector. In addition to the multi race single player campaign, Dawn of War II - Retribution also features new multiplayer units, maps and an entire new playable faction.
