Knytt Underground was one of the best games of 2012 that you (might not have) played. But it's spreading its tendrils in every direction so more people can watch it poke hot-button issues in the eye with a sharp stick. In a good way. There's a lot going on for this little indie.

In short, there's a permanent price drop down to $9.99 for the PS3 and Vita versions of the game (cross buy is in full effect); the official soundtrack is free on the PlayStation Store, BandCamp, and on developer Nicklas "Nifflas" Nygren's websiteKnytt Underground was Greenlit on Steam last month; and it will be on Wii U by the end of the year. A mountain of Knytt Underground news updates

20th September 2013: Indie legend Nicklas ‘Nifflas’ Nygren & Publishing Hero nominee Ripstone are excited to be able to fill you in on several Knytt Underground updates: a permanent price drop for PlayStation®3 & PS Vita; launch of the free Official Knytt Underground soundtrack; the Infinity Hype update; Knytt Underground being Greenlit on Steam; and the game coming to Nintendo Wii U!

Knytt Underground is the brainchild of Nicklas ‘Nifflas’ Nygren; the game puts you in the shoes of Mi – a mute, but extraordinary sprite; with an array of thrilling quests to complete, unique zen-like gameplay and plenty of dynamic characters to meet and guide you on your adventure; Knytt Underground delivers a captivating and unparalleled experience that will not disappoint.

The game originally launched on PlayStation®Network at the end of 2013 for both PlayStation®3 and PlayStation® Vita; and now, people who haven’t yet immersed themselves in the Knytt world can download the game for £7.99 / $9.99 / €9.99; its lowest price ever on PSN – with over 1,800 rooms that’s less than 0.004pence/cents per room! Players can also take advantage of the cross buy deal, getting the PS Vita version free when buying the game for PS3, and vice versa.

Since launching Knytt Underground Nifflas has been hard at work on the eagerly anticipated Infinity Hype update, which has now been completed for all PC, Mac and Linux versions of the game; the update includes lots of intriguing new content based on feedback from the fans via Reddit and features even more quests, rooms, and secrets. It makes an already huge game even bigger! It can be downloaded from GamersGate, Desura & the Mac App Store.

The game is also making its way to Wii U at the end of 2013; the Wii U version of the game will feature the Infinity Hype update exclusively for consoles. You’ll be able to get hands on with the Wii U version of the game at Eurogamer Expo in London from 26th September, Nifflas himself will be there demoing the game too.

The community support resulted in the game being Greenlit on Steam at the end of August (cue celebrations all round); Nifflas is busily enhancing the game with Steamworks support, and expect a release on Steam within the coming months.

After overwhelming support from the fans, the teams wanted to give something back as a thank you: presenting the Official Knytt Underground Soundtrack (DRM free); the album of over 100 songs can be downloaded for free from the PlayStation Store and BandCamp, as well as Nifflas’ own website. Get lost in the captivating sounds and take the cool, minimalist beats of Mi’s underground adventures wherever you go.
