June NPD's in, Metal Gear Solid 4 was a system seller

Here are the hardware numbers straight from NeoGaf:

Nintendo DS - 783k
Wii - 666.7k
PlayStation 3 - 405.5k
PSP - 337.4k
Xbox 360 - 219.8k
Playstation 2 - 188.8k

With Metal Gear Solid 4 selling almost 775,000 copies it's safe to say it was a system seller as the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 by over 186,000 units.  The news gets worse for Microsoft as Nintendo announced today that the Wii has passed the Xbox 360 in total number of units sold.

Looking at the rest of the year there really aren't a lot of games left that are going to sell hardware. Sure Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Resistance:Fall of Man 2, and others are going to sell well but I don't see them selling a lot of new hardware on their own and I'm guessing Microsoft and Sony are going to have to announce price cuts later this year if they want to move more hardware.  Am I missing something?  My brain is a bit sleep deprived and jet lagged so leave your thoughts in the comments.
