Guitar Hero III DLC channels the 2007 Isle of Wight festival

The June 12th downloadable song pack for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will have living room rock stars discovering the joy of sex.  We're talking about the Sex Pistols, of course, who re-recorded "Anarchy in the UK" (overly-obvious choice!) specifically for Guitar Hero III.  One of my favorite UK bands, the Kaiser Chiefs, are also contributing "I Predict a Riot" (nice!) to the pack -- and Kasabian is putting on "Shoot the Runner" (not bad!) all of which are lifted from the 2007 Isle of Wight festival.  Those of you that downloaded the June 5th pack are already shredding to Motorhead's "We Are the Road Crew" and "Stay Clean" (speed/thrash metal mistakable for pre-Sex Pistols punk!)  Good, good week of music, in my opinion.

GRAMMY® Award Winning Motörhead Joins Legendary Guitar Hero® Lineup

SANTA MONICA, CA – June 5, 2008 – Coming to a console near you, living room rock stars will soon be able to shred to an assortment of new master tracks on Activision, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ATVI) Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock with five new song packs releasing throughout the month of June.  Two of the five packs will let gamers rock out with three headline acts from the Isle of Wight festival and tunes from the timeless rock icon, Motörhead.

Reliving one of the most memorable performances of the 2007 Isle of Wight festival, Kasabian’s master recording of “Shoot the Runner” joins 2008 headliners The Sex Pistols and Kaiser Chiefs in the Isle of Wight pack.  Available on June 12th, the track pack also features Kaiser Chief’s “I Predict a Riot” which climbed all the way to #9 on the UK Singles Chart.  The Sex Pistols, who went into the studio for the first time in 30 years to re-record “Anarchy in the U.K.” specifically for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, round out the track pack with a live rendition of “Problems,” recorded during their 30th anniversary tour stop at Brixton Academy in London.

In anticipation of Motorhead’s new album, on June 5, 2008 players can shred to the band’s legendary hits “We Are the Road Crew,” “Stay Clean” and their first single, the self-titled “Motörhead.”

Both track packs will be available on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®Store for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.
