Shrapnel Games doesn't limit their strategy offerings to video games.  They also provide many table top games and other alternatives.  One of their free board games is Goblin Slayer.  Players are able to download the art, assemble the pieces, add dice and markers and get playing.  However, up to this point it's only been in black and white.

Click here to find the new color update for the game.  It includes full color characters, a game cover, and map tiles.  One player controls Stormbeard the dwarf and attempts to obtain the Shimmering Widget, while the other player controls the goblins that stand in his way.

Included in the press release is this line, "Shrapnel Games supports kids not gouging their eyes out with scissors so if you're under eight be sure to ask your mom and dad to help assemble the game."  Nice!  Find out more information in the press release or at the web site for Shrapnel Games.
Bring New Life To Your Goblin Slayer Game With COLOR!
Digital Eel's Free Fantasy Board Game Updated!

Hampstead, NC, 01 February 2010

In 2008 gamers around the globe brought the eternal conflict of dwarf versus goblin to their tabletop with Digital Eel's free print and play board game, Goblin Slayer. And it was good. Now, in 2010 it's time to delve once more into the fetid tunnels and whack some goblin skulls around with a brand new art asset update featuring gorgeous full color playing pieces and map tiles!
Featuring the works of Orlando Ramirez, James "One Monk" Hartman, and Andrew Tullsen the art update provides players with a zip file full of printing goodness. You get FULL COLOR stand up flats for all the characters (including a vicious looking cave troll to replace the original ogre), a FULL COLOR cover for the game to print out and affix to a box or use in a ziploc, and FULL COLOR map tiles that bring the world of Goblin Slayer to life.

Of course if players wish to continue to use the original black and white tiles the basic game download still contains them. Maybe you're going for a fantasy noir look, or perhaps you want to play the emo-goth version of Goblin Slayer. For everyone else once you experience the beauty of playing in color you'll never want to go back to the monochrome world again.

Goblin Slayer and the art update are both absolutely FREE to download. Players will need to provide some dice and markers and also assemble the pieces. Shrapnel Games supports kids not gouging their eyes out with scissors so if you're under eight be sure to ask your mom and dad to help assemble the game.

Download the art update and original game from the Shrapnel Games library of free game downloads.

Goblin Slayer is a two player game of dangerous delving and combat in the underground world of the Cave of Woe. One player becomes Stormbeard the dwarf, armed with his trusty battle axe and questing for the mystic Shimmering Widget, while the other player controls the hordes of goblins standing in his way. Fans of gory violence will be happy to learn that the game features much bloodshed, and with its fast moving gameplay, easy to grasp mechanics, and endless map combinations Goblin Slayer is a game that you'll want to play over and over again.
