GameStop announced today that they have opened their first Premier Store and Tournament Center in San Jose California. The 4,000 sq ft store will sport a traditional GameStop setup, but have 24 networked Plasma Monitors for weekend tourneys. The initial tourney at the store (if you are lucky enough to live by it) will be this December 15th and will feature Madden 08 an $1,000 GameStop shopping spree to the winner.

Madden NFL 08 Tournament to Celebrate Grand Opening

GRAPEVINE, Texas --(Business Wire)-- Dec. 11, 2007 GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME), the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer, announced today the opening of its first combination store and tournament center. Larger than a standard GameStop location, this 4,000 square foot store is located in heart of the gaming industry in San Jose, CA.

This location is a first of its kind venue for GameStop and the first in a series of tournament focused stores. The center features 24 networked gaming stations with plasma monitors and tournament events will occur most weekends with GameStop system-wide tournament finals occurring at least once a quarter.

The inaugural tournament will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and will feature Madden NFL 08 with the grand prize winner receiving a $1,000 GameStop shopping spree. Space is limited and participants are encouraged to arrive early to ensure a spot in the tournament.
