GameStop buys out EB Games, new wave of applications at Sbarro expected

Whoa, didn't see this one coming. According to this article at MSNBC, GameStop has just bought out EB Games for $1.4 billion. I guess some level of industry consolidation should be expected from time to time but the merger of two of the biggest game retailers not named Best Buy isn't exactly warming the cockles of my dark heart. It will be interesting to see how this plays out but you have to expect some changes as these two franchises control a large portion of the used game market, occupy vast real estate in the malls of American, and employ a large number of gamers across the country.
