Freeverse joins ngmoco on Plus+ Network

More On: Plus+ Network
Freeverse, makers of iPhone games such as SlotZ Racer, Flick NBA Basketball and Flick Fishing has joined with ngmoco in adopting the Plus+ Network. The Plus+ Network is an ngmoco developed service that allows players to create friends lists, post status updates and allow a profile to be developed across multiple games. Kind of like what Xbox Live and PSN have done for the Xbox 360 and PS3. This is the first such attempt at creating a cohesive version of this social gaming service on the iPhone platform and it helps that two of the more active publishers are involved. I hope ngmoco signs up more publishers as partners and works with Apple to install this as base for all gaming, as it really has some promise.  Take a look at this video showing off the service for ngmoco's Star Defense game:

Freeverse Adopts Plus+ Network for Best Selling and Critically Acclaimed Catalog of iPhone Games
First Freeverse Games to Incorporate Plus+ Include Warpgate and Flick Fishing

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- Jul 30, 2009 Freeverse, a leading developer and publisher for the iPhone and iPod touch, is the first partner of the Plus+ Network, a service of iPhone publisher ngmoco. Plus+ introduces a powerful set of features that expand the value of playing games to include social, competitive and personal achievement elements. Fans of Freeverse games will now be able to create friend lists, post status updates and develop a cross game Plus+ profile that grows with their gaming success & actions. In addition, users can view what friends are playing, challenge them to beat top scores, and earn and boast about awards.

"Freeverse fans are always eager to engage meaningfully with their social groups and share the games they love, so integrating Plus+ into our games was a natural choice for us," said Ian Lynch Smith, president, Freeverse. "Whether players want to follow their friends’ activities, set up their own challenges and invite friends to play, the Plus+ network offers that functionality today and is poised to offer even more in the future. We’re confident that Plus+ promises to be the definitive social map iPhone players have been searching for.”

Fans will soon be able to take advantage of all the Plus+ features in Freeverse’s popular games for iPhone and iPod touch. The first Freeverse title to include Plus+ integration will be the highly anticipated new 3D space trading and conquest game, Warpgate. This upcoming game, where players can master the galactic commodities market, battle space pirates, and meet several alien species, will feature leaderboards and a number of exciting, unlockable awards. Freeverse will also be incorporating Plus+ into its blockbuster game Flick Fishing, which has sold over a million copies.

"As Freeverse is a premier iPhone game publisher, we are very proud that the studio is our first partner to bring its high caliber of popular games to Plus+,” said Simon Jeffery, chief publishing officer, Plus+. “We are excited to add even more to the Freeverse fan’s experience through the Plus+ Network, which has been specifically designed to enhance the fun of playing games on the iPhone and iPod touch.”
