ESA confirms smaller show for 2007

Gamespot has the official ESA statement regarding E3 2007.  It looks like we are going to get a smaller, more intimate show next year and the relying on the manufacturers having separate events for their own products.  They are going to continue to work out the details but E3 as we knew it is dead.  It will be interesting to see how this shakes out but it feels like the industry is going to get a lot harder to cover as gaming sites and publications are going to have to cover multiple, smaller events rather than one monster event.

I know that as a games journalist it's in vogue to hate E3 right now but I always enjoyed going to the show and the fast paced nature of trying to cover everything in such a short amount of time.  To me complaining about the food, noise, lights, and hygiene habits of the attendees was like complaining about the lack of a plot in a porn movie.  That's not why you are there.  I know I complained about the low admission standards allowing too many people in but once you got the feel of the place and knew the back alleys avoiding the crowds wasn't that much of a problem.  Oh well, I guess we'll see how this thing shakes out.
