E3 07: Conan hands on

Before our EA appointment John and I were wandering around the THQ both and spotted Conan, the upcoming action adventure game.  The game was one of the real surprises of the show for me as I had seen a few screenshots and movies but hadn't really read much about the game.  Truth be told the game is God of War with Conan instead of Kratos.  There are a few differences in the game play though as you can pick up a variety of weapons as you play through the game.  The build we played only had sword but the developer mentioned that axes and a few other weapon types would be in the final product.  The game will be coming out for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 but we were told that the 360 version was a little better looking so take that for what it's worth.

Another fun thing with the game is some of the special moves Conan can pick up along the way.  As you progress through the game you can exchange experience points for special moves.  These are things like jumping up and cutting a guy in half (which is twice as awesome as it sounds when you play the game).  You can also wield two swords which allows you to hack off both of an opponents arms if you land the blow right or throw a sword at a guy across the screen.  The game looks good and this should be one of the first God of War type games available on the Xbox 360 when it's released later this year.
