Dissidia out in North America- Love it or Hate it?

by: Nathan -
More On: Dissidia Final Fantasy
Square Enix celebrated the (assumed) 20th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise with the release of Dissidia Final Fantasy in the US yesterday. Dissidia is not cannon for the Final Fantasy universe but rather takes the Soul Calibur approach to story and sets up a tale of an epic battle of chaos (evil) vs cosmos (good). This allows the impressive mix of different characters from the various Final Fantasy games without having to explain that they are, in some way, linked with each other. The battle system is more in tune with Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII than any other iteration in the series. I loved the combat system in Crisis Core and now that Dissidia allows special jump attacks there is no longer a sensation of the character's feet glued to the ground. Chances are if your a fan you probably already picked up this game or, you might be a fan that believes Final Fantasy should only be turned based. Leave a comment letting us know if you love it or hate it and if this is a good direction for Square Enix to take the franchise.
