More On: WordJong

Destineer has provided some further details about their upcoming Nintendo DS puzzler WordJong. While the names aren't as obvious as Glass Joe and Piston Honda, the opponents title does seem to give a solid clue as to what level of opposition you're up against.  WordJong is expected to drop in November.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – October 15, 2007 – Scrabble and Mahjong meet to create a hard-to-resist puzzle sensation in WordJong, which is already one of the best-selling downloadable games online. Now the Nintendo DS™ version from Destineer makes this smash hit even better with DS-exclusive features like Daily Mode, Temple Challenge Mode, Local Wireless, Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection multiplayer, and a cast of AI characters based on the Chinese zodiac throughout all of the game modes. Each of the seven characters has his or her own personality and play style, representing a different difficulty level ranging from easy (the Rabbit) to hard (the Dragon). Let’s meet your WordJong opponents:

·        Kid the Novice: As a new WordJong student, this Rabbit uses mostly small words. However, he has been known to get lucky…

·        Archos the Student: Studying WordJong over the last few years, Archos has practiced the art of using “S” letters whenever possible.

·        Mox the Scholar: Mox likes to create words that use two of the same letter. She will try and use many vowels on the board.

·        Boaris the Champion: Known for his aggressive play, Boaris prefers to use higher-scoring letters for his words.

·        Kita the Maven: Very strategic and super sly, Kita will plan ahead to block valuable letters during play.

·        Minko the Master: Often times ignoring score, Minko years to create long, beautifully crafted words.

·        Qu-Xan, the Grand Master: Qu-Xan has been studying WordJong for centuries. He has yet to be defeated…

WordJong features simple, yet engrossing gameplay: Use a set of lettered tiles to create words, clearing the board as you use tiles. Shoot for high-scoring words, earn bonus tiles, and attempt to clear the board with no leftover letters. WordJong boasts several new features exclusive to the Nintendo DS system, including:

  • Solo Play: Play through one of three highly addictive game modes. Choose a puzzle from the calendar and try to beat the computer’s high score in Daily Mode. Accumulate rank medals as you climb your way to the top in Temple Challenge Mode. Or, defeat each of the seven AI characters in head-to-head battles in Tournament Mode.

  • Multiplayer Modes: Go head-to-head with a friend over Local Wireless, or connect to the internet via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and take on players from around the world. Have a friend without the game? Use the DS Download Play option to gift a puzzle or play head-to-head using just one game!

  • Additional Features: WordJong features a 100,000+ word dictionary, loads of challenges and awards to acquire, full support for both the Control Pad and Touch Screen, and much, much more!
