Debut video for Warhammer-based Blood Bowl reddens up the turf

If you're looking for a little more Warhammer in your football, then Paris-based Cyanide Studio has the tabletop-to-video game conversion you've been waiting in the stands for:  Blood Bowl.  Based on the Human-, Dwarf-, Orc-, and Lizardmen-populated Old World of Warhammer, Blood Bowl is so steeped in its tabletop roots that you can switch between real-time action and turn-based strategy for working out your play-by-play.  And since it's based on a role-playing title from Games Workshop, don't fret about depth, because its got it.  It's deep enough to go ahead and classify with the management sims, as you deal with the career arc of your players (to include purchase and sale of players, as well as aging, retirement and/or death).  And yes, there will be leader boards.  Blood Bowl is being developed for the PC and Xbox 360, as well as the handheld Nintendo DS and Sony PSP.

We are pleased to unveil the first teaser video of Blood Bowl, the video game adaptation of Games Workshop's famous board game.

This is the first chance to see that the game meets the high expectations demanded for the adaptation of this cult game. This video reveals the first action scenes in the highly charged stadiums of Blood Bowl (from the Human, Chaos and Orc races) and even some sneak-peeks of some of the other impressive teams from previously unveiled races (Humans, Dwarfs, Orcs and Lizardmen).

A brutal team sport unfolding in a parallel fantasy world based on Warhammer and American football, Blood Bowl invites gamers to form a team of players from such races as: Orcs, Elves, Humans, Dwarfs and many other fantasy creatures, and launch themselves into battle in the bloodiest of arenas. This strategy sports game combines a fine balance of tactics and bone crunching action!

Developed by the French studio Cyanide, the video game adaptation of Blood Bowl has all of the characteristics of a traditional ball game, and so it allows you to develop actual tactics and strategies before and during matches.

Playable in turn-based or real-time modes, the single-player experience allows the player to manage a team throughout an entire season of Blood Bowl, through the Old World of Warhammer. The team will evolve over the course of victories, experience gained and awards won. With its immense depth, the game can almost be considered as a management game, from managing the popularity and sponsorship of players to the purchase and sale of players, as well as their aging, retirement and even death.

In multiplayer, the player will be able to throw down a challenge to other Blood Bowl players and participate in large tournaments on the Internet in order to climb the official ranks.
