CrimeCraft guns down a ship date, initiates gangsters into closed beta

More On: CrimeCraft
CrimeCraftVogster Entertainment has made it this far with the awkwardly alliterate name of CrimeCraft and its half-blatant ripoff-ancy of -- do I really need to say it? -- every series Blizzard has named since 1994.  Oh wait.  Maybe DiabloCraft would've been too obvious.  But now it's time to head into closed beta (aka: free QA for Vogster time) which always means early bragging rights for those that are blessed and annointed by the beta gods.

Despite my jeering comments above, I'm glad that a contemporary setting is making its way into the MMO landscape.  And with Vogster aiming at 4,500 concurrent users per realm, individual criminals' and organized crime syndicates' reputations could end up carrying a lot of weight on each server.

CrimeCraft is going for a late summer ship date of August 25th.  Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their cutesy creation of  the PWNS MMO acronym.  As in, Persistent World Next-Gen Shooter.  They'll try and force the issue, I'm sure.  But the genre already goes by the acronym of MMOFPS (even if it's in third-person).  News outlets trying to give the PWNS thing a hike in popularity will have to spell out the acronym every time or immediately lose everyone.  Just saying.
