CES Product Update: Nokia announces N93i

by: Ben Berry -
More On: N93
Somewhere between the day I completed my review of the Nokia N93, and the day we got it posted (today), fell CES. At CES, a Nokia rep walked me through their tent/booth in front of the LVCC. One of the products on their new release list was the Nokia N93i, an updated model of the N93. Good news, the two biggest flaws I found in the N93, the keyboard and the battery cover, were both updated. The keyboard is dramatically better, with less wasted space, more responsive (in an understated way), and an all-around better feel. While I couldn't remove the battery cover due to a security device, I was able to partially dislodge it to check on the form factor and it is definately a thicker, more durable cover.

In addition, the top portion of the phones form factor was slimmed to include a mirrored plate, with an underlying OLED screen that displays an improved 65k colors.

The only downside is that at this point, the N93i appears to be slated for a europe-only release.
