CCP to reveal EVE expansion at Game Developers Conference

As you can imagine, many developers will be present at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. CCP Games will be amongst them, and they’re prepared to reveal information on an expansion to EVE Online set to release in the summer of this year.

The expansion has been dubbed Tyrannis, and CCP teases details of a new interaction system, which will give pilots control over planets.

Four speakers from CCP will also be leading four different sessions, including one NVIDIA sponsored session.

If you’re interested in getting involved in the industry, you should take the opportunity to harass one of the CCP members at GDC given that they’ve also announced that they are in the midst of recruitment and will be actively seeking talent out at GDC.

CCP Games Will Attend Conference to Recruit Developers and Discuss New Expansions



REYKJAVIK, ICELAND – March 8, 2010 – At this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, CCP Games will release new details of upcoming expansions to its award-winning science-fiction MMO, EVE Online. Set for release in Summer 2010, Tyrannis, the 13th free expansion to EVE, will allow pilots to control entire planets with a new interaction system, demonstrating CCP’s continued dedication to evolving EVE Online for the player community.



As CCP ramps up development of its console and PC projects, it will actively recruit talent at GDC for positions in its offices around the world, including its home office in Reykjavik, Iceland, its North American studio based in Atlanta, and its Shanghai studio, which is developing DUST 514, a groundbreaking console-based hybrid MMO/FPS set within the EVE universe.



CCP will also host four speaking sessions at GDC, including an NVIDIA-sponsored session on simulating clothing with NVIDIA Apex. Speakers include EVE Lead Economist Eyjó Guðmundsson, EVE Lead Game Master Einar Hreiðarsson, Senior Software Engineer Snorri Sturluson, Lead Technical Artist Vigfús Ómarsson, Software Engineer Berglind Guðmundsdóttir and Senior Technical Producer Aðalsteinn Óttarsson.
