Being a steam-powered era in American history, steampunk simply feels indigenous to the Wild West. And while this debut trailer for Damnation doesn`t necessarily put its best foot forward -- the filter is too dark, the "vengeance is alive and well" hook is trite, the action sequencing is a little mushy -- the gunfire looks meaty, the heavyset narration is convincing, and the set pieces look promising (though I definitely hope the art department pushes further into hyperbole). I`ll keep a sidelong eye on this one, though I`ll lose interest if they pull too many punches on the inherent campy potential.
