OK so E3 08 wasn`t that great from what a lot of the media is saying. E3 07 wasn`t that much fun either. Third time`s a charm for a format change right? Well Gamespot has word that another E3 is planned for next year but the specifics aren`t known yet of course. For a little bit before the show I was sad I missing out but as the show went on and I read some of the people`s experiences I felt a lot better for missing out. While I`m sure everyone has their opinion on how they want E3 here`s my quick take. Go to a show the size between the original and this years. Double the width of the aisles between each booth. This will fill up the halls a little more with the decreased amount of vendors showing. For the first three days, only let press through. The final two days let anyone in. Or, limit the number of public in the first few days in. That`s a few of my suggestions, what`s yours?

I'll get excited about E3 2009 as soon as I finish my coverage of E3 2008, still have a bunch more coverage coming today and tomorrow.

The one thing I notice is that most of the people making snarky comments about this year's E3 are people that didn't go. Just like last year. I thought last year was fantastic. Yes it had its problems, but I liked it more than the circus years. Here's the disconnect: For the people sitting at home and watching it seems boring and pointless, so we get news posts like this one. However, for the people actually covering it, this set-up is WAY better. You can actually get stuff done, talk with important people and promote the site. Try promoting a small site when there are 75,000 people around ... it can't be done. But with only 5,000 of the most important people it's super easy. For the small sites this is a better show, if only because people will actually pay attention to your coverage and will actually go to the site. At least that's been my experience. I can completely understand how it can seem boring when you're not there, but then again, anything can seem boring when you're not actually there.

Kotaku says there's talk about opening to the public in the next one and of course how company execs and game developers didn't like the show.

Then it has to be true, since all of the rumors that Kotaku talked about before E3 magically came true, too. Like the Xbox 360 motion control, all of the great games on the Wii, a new DS ... all came true. Oh wait, no they didn't. Bah, more lame rumors, just what we need.

It's ok Cyril. It's ok .. Nowhere does it say it's going to happen. Just there's some talk. There's nothing wrong with that and you can see we didn't post it as a "news" item but as a comment. Besides it's a year away anyways :)
