Why move one pad to the cymbal area and add another cymbal. Joystiq has a picture from Game Informer showing off a prototype. This just means another drum set I need to keep in the living room because I bet this thing won`t work with Rock Band. My house isn`t big enough to hold all these faux instruments.
As much as I loved Guitar Hero I and II, the third one just isn't the same. Part of the problem is simple: It's not programmed by Harmonix. Harmonix was the best at coming up with the note patterns and making everything work. They are also good at finding good music for both the disc and weekly downloadable content. Left to their own devices, Neversoft gives us Aerosmith. Uggh!!
The biggest reason why Rock Band has worked so well is because they actually give you something to do with your fellow bandmates. If the game was set up like Guitar Hero then all you would do is play songs, not go on a virtual tour and have to play specific sets for specific groups of people. Six months later I'm still playing the World Tour mode with my friends ... and we're not even close to finishing it. If Guitar Hero really wants to compete they are going to need to come up with a World Tour killer.
I also need to see their DLC strategy. Now that I have over 100 songs in my Rock Band library, I can't imagine just going over to Guitar Hero IV and buying a bunch of tracks. The whole drums and vocals thing may be happening too late.
