Atari has launched a new website for Alone in the Dark which allows you to explore the world of the game before it hits shelves. With the company being delisted this from the NASDAQ this week it`s hard to underestimate how important this game is to the company. What I`ve seen looks really good but it remains to be seen if the final product will be enough to help turn the company around.

I think Alone in the Dark is the end of an era for Atari, after this game they are going to change dramatically (no matter if it's a success or not). With Phil in charge I think that we're going to see the return of small casual games that can be sold on the PSN, XBLA, Steam and Wii Ware. The future of Atari is going to be in small downloadable games. I suspect they are going to take a lot more chances on untested developers and crazy ideas. If Phil has his way then this could be the beginning of a really great era for Atari. Lord only knows they need a really great era.

I think this might be a rent for me. I really want to play the game but I don't see myself wanting to buy it after the initial play through. Unlike BioShock which I will buy despite not really wanting to play through it again just because its one of those games that reminds me that not all the games are crap and makes me feel warm fuzzies whenever I see the cover. Well that was girly. I will now go down several shots of whiskey, procreate, and fire a large gun; not necessarily in that order.
