For the record, his "I'll stop if I get 1 million signatures" comment was a joke that was taken out of context. He never said he would stop, he just guessed at how much it would take to convince him. He has since commented on it (weeks ago, I might add) and needless to say, he is NOT going to quit making movies. I don't care if that website gets 6 billion signatures, the dude isn't going to stop ... so don't even waste your time. In fact, all this is doing is keeping his name out there and giving him advertising for Postal, which is coming out in a few days. So when it comes right down to it, you're actually helping him out.
As for Uwe himself, my opinion has changes over the last few years. When I first saw House of the Dead I was horrified, it was absolutely dreadful. Then he started doing a lot of other dreadful movies. They were bad, but then again, they weren't exactly based on games that everybody expected would turn into amazing movies. Did anybody really expect a great movie out of House of the Dead or Bloodrayne? Probably not, so you can't be too disappointed by the finished product.
What's more, as bad as Uwe is, at least his films are getting better. While it's not perfect, In the Name of the King was considerably better than Alone in the Dark or House of the Dead, so maybe he's improving as a filmmaker. That's certainly more than I can say about Paul W.S. Anderson, who has enough money to make good movies but lacks the talent to turn Resident Evil into a worthwhile film.
Give Uwe a break, he may suck but I would much rather people find a way of stopping Paul W.S. Anderson. Or maybe we shouldn't stop anybody and just let them do what they want. Nobody is forcing you to watch either of these men's movies, so maybe we shouldn't be trying to force them out of a career. I sure would hate it if Uwe tried blocking my way of making money.
