Sigh. Well, 2K Sports confirmed to Next-Gen (based on an original Kotaku report) yesterday that College Hoops 2K9 has indeed been cancelled. The speculation is that EA is once again trying to negotiate exclusive rights with the CLC (Collegiate Licensing Company) for NCAA Basketball, much like it has done with the NFL and Madden series. I guess if you have the money and are in the business, it makes sense from EA`s perspective. However, the lack of competition is disheartening when EA continues to put out titles that are below what they are capable of when they have little competition. Lets keep an eye on this, because it could lead to backlash and possibly an anti-trust suit against the CLC and EA if they continue to lock out other developers...
