Boomtown has a short blurb on their site today from Sony who says they expect to lose about 100 billion yen (about $1 billion US dollars) this year due to start up costs for the PS3. Given that the Playstation/games division has usually been a money earning business unit for Sony I don`t think they will be in the red for long.
