The most influential game for me, as I’m sure it was for a lot of people, was a charming little game called “Pong”. I remember clearly seeing this at a friend’s house, in all its black-and-white pixilated glory. After one play I knew this was something I was very interested in having for my very own. By that time, we didn’t have to buy the hard-wired Pong system, but instead we were able to pick up the modern marvel known as the Atari 2600, which could play not only Pong, but hundreds of other titles as well. Countless hours were spent in those very first virtual tennis matches, be it along against the maniac computer, or against family and friends. Pong was my first exposure to the world of electronic gaming, and I’ve never been the same since.

Pattycake.

Is this a game you might ask? Sure is. I played it all the time in high school. Requires hand/eye coordination, multitasking, memorization, motor skills, intense concentration, creativity, explosive speed. It's multiplayer (granted cooperation only) and nothing beats a good grudge match between two sets of dueling pattycakers. Especially armed ones.

However a close second would have to be Pong since it was the first digital representation of the oldest and, up to that point, second best game - Hit The Ball With A Stick. With Pong, old met new and nothing has been the same since.
