US gets in on the Mario celebration

by: Jeremy -
More On: DSi Nintendo Wii
It was starting to seem as if Nintendo was celebrating the 25th anniversary of Mario in every region of the world except for North America. That isn’t the case any more as I received an email this morning announcing that the special 25th Anniversary edition consoles in both the home and portable flavors.

Limited edition red Wii and DSi XL systems will begin appearing in stores on November 7, 2010. These consoles are being considered a special offer and their availability is being limited to “while supplies last”. The limited edition red Wii bundle will sell for the standard price of $199.99 and will contain a Wii console, Wiimote and nunchuck (one of the new Wiimote Plus designs, which includes the Wii MotionPlus build into the device), Wii Sports game, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii game. That isn’t a bad combo at all... though I am a little perplexed as to why they are not including Wii Sports Resort considering the inclusion of the new Wiimote Plus.

The DSi XL package contains a special edition red Nintendo DSi XL with special engraved artwork as well as a copy of Mario Kart DS. This package will also be offered at the standard price of $179.99.

There is still no word on the 25th anniversary Mario Collection game for Wii... surely that is coming this way too...
