This week's downloadable Nintendo games

More On:
If last week’s Nintendo downloads weren’t enough to get you salivating, they’re bringing you more again this week – rife with diversity in genre.

If you’re in the mood for some classics, WiiWare will be providing you with ARKANOID Plus! – an update on the arcade blockbuster you all know and love. To keep the game fresh and exciting, there will be new modes and settings to play around with including Arcade Mode that tests you on 61 rounds, VS Mode for friendly human or CPU challenges, and Time Mode. If racing is more your thing, Konami presents DRiiFT Mania where you will need to adjust to the terrain in each racing environment.

DSiWare also has two new downloadable games. Screw art school, Art Academy: Second Semester will teach you to create complex artwork that Monet would be proud of. Nintendo brings you more in-depth lessons and tools to experiment and learn techniques of developing impressionist art. You can also play around with Free Pain mode to get a feel for it outside of the lessons. The second game they are offering on DSiWare is a bit more action oriented. DRAGON QUEST WARS is a grid-based strategy game featuring all the familiar faces from the DRAGON QUEST series. Play off or online.

In an ode to old school Sega, Virtual Console will now have Altered Beast for download. Partake in the Greek mythology we have all almost assuredly read in detail in high school (or whatever grade it is they decide Greek mythology must be taught). Zeus resurrects you to set on the mission of rescuing Athena from Neff, God of the Underworld, in Altered Beast. Battle against three-headed wolves in different levels to obtain the Spirit Balls that allow you shape shift leading to the eventual badass Golden Werewolf.

That’s all for this week on Nintendo downloads, but they will be releasing new ones weekly.
