X3: Albion Prelude is set to hit PCs everywhere via Steam in German, French (voice) and Italian (text only) on Dec 15 (Mac - soon) in advance of the launch of the all new X Rebirth next year. Set during a time between the old and new X Universe, a time of massive change, full-scale war has broken out. This new plot thrusts you into the age old videogame struggle between giant corporations, features 30 new ships, a new stock exchange feature, graphic settings for high-end machines, improved UI, and support for head tracking.
For owners of X: Superbox (or those that choose to buy it), X3: Albion Prelude will become a free Steam download. If you already own X3: Terran Conflict, then X3: Albion Prelude becomes a $9.99 add-on, its saves will not be compatible with X3: Terran Conflict, however. If you're new to the series, you can get X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude together for only $19.99. Finally, a standalone version will hit the Mac Appstore soon for $19.99. Egosoft announces December 15th release of X3: Albion Prelude for Mac and PC; First trailer released
WÜRSELEN, GERMANY – DECEMBER 07, 2011 – Egosoft, a Germany-based game developer since 1990, today announced a December 15th release of PC and Mac versions of X3: Albion Prelude, a new challenge in the X3 series, building up toward the launch of the all new X Rebirth coming in 2012.
A Bridge Between the Old and New X Universe
X3: Albion Prelude plays in a time between the old and the new X Universe. It shows a universe in flux, and prepares players for things to come. The old X Universe is passing; a new X Universe is about to be created.

Corporations Compete for Control of the Future
With the war as a backdrop, corporations are vying for power and are driving the X Universe in a new direction. A technological breakthrough will soon allow massive accelerators, forming highways in space and allowing the economy to expand on an unprecedented scale. Highways, a key feature of X Rebirth, are not yet ready, but you can see them being built and participate in the power struggles around the construction of much larger self sustaining economies.
