In the latest trailer for
Red Steel 2, you can see just how bad a day the gunslinger-samurai hero can have. As with most action epics--Diehard, James Bond, Dirty Harry--how bad a day the protagonist is experiencing is inversely proportionate to how much fun you, the audience, is having. The Red Steel 2 hero might wish that all those explosions would stop and there was some whiskey left in the bar, but damn does this bad day look great to us.
As for me, this trailer made the wait until March 23rd all the more agonizing. Between the breathtaking art style, razor-precise katana combat and (literally) explosive set pieces, Red Steel 2 looks like one of 2010's defining games.
