PlayStation 3.21 firmware coming April 1, nerfs older PS3s from Linux

Here's something that will make more than a few PlayStation 3 owners angry. The upcoming 3.21 update adds a few things but takes away a feature from the older run of the consoles: the ability to run another OS.

What?

OK, this doesn't affect me but this was one of the features that the PS3 touted way back when. That and backwards compatibility. Oh wait, they got rid of the latter in the newer runs of the hardware didn't they?

So the reason you are getting rid of this feature is that it will, "help ensure that PS3 owners will continue to have access to the broad range of gaming and entertainment content from SCE and its content partners on a more secure system." Really, Sony? Really? *sigh*

It does everything....but let you run another OS after the update.
