Next stop, the Twilight Zone........OF VIDEOGAMES

by: Nathaniel -
More On: The Twilight Zone
And no, the "Twilight" in question has nothing to do with sparkling vampires, this "Twilight" is aimed at a much older demographic.

Casual game developer and publisher, Legacy games, has teamed with CBS Consumer Products to create a videogame based on the iconic 60's TV series, The Twilight Zone.  Expected to be released sometime in the first quarter of 2012 for the PC and MAC, The Twilight Zone will be the latest in casual TV show game adaptations that make up Legacy's "Hollywood Hits" game series, alongside Murder, She Wrote, House M.D., Ghost Whisperer, Criminal Minds, and Psych.

The game will feature an original story that follows a struggling actor as he's forced to play the role of a recurring character in multiple episodes of a TV show, and slowly must uncover his role in each story line.  Gameplay will be adventure style quests mixed with hidden object sections.

You'll be able to download the game when it becomes available at legacygames.com.

The most interesting thing I'm taking away from this is that the developers feel that being a recurring character on a TV show is the sort of Hell that is an appropriate setting for the The Twilight Zone.  Given the game's ties with CBS, I'm inclined to agree.
LEGACY INTERACTIVE® AND CBS CONSUMER PRODUCTS TURN POPULAR TELEVISION SHOW INTO AN INTERACTIVE GAME

Next Stop…The Twilight Zone

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 2, 2011) – Leading casual game developer and publisher Legacy Interactive® announced today that they have signed a licensing agreement with CBS Consumer Products to create a video game based on the iconic science fiction TV series Twilight Zone. The videogame, slated to launch in Q1-2012 on the PC and Mac, will be the latest addition to Legacy’s popular “Hollywood Hits” game series that includes Murder, She Wrote, House, M.D., Ghost Whisperer, Criminal Minds and Psych.

“Legacy Interactive is thrilled to be collaborating with CBS Consumer Products and developer Spark Plug Games on this amazing franchise,” said Ariella Lehrer, President and CEO of Legacy Interactive. “Who doesn’t remember episodes like ‘Time Enough at Last’ or ‘Nightmare at 20,000 Feet’? Beloved by baby boomers worldwide, Legacy hopes to bring the same chilling intelligence, social relevance, and supernatural themes to our Twilight Zone video game.”

In this original story, gamers will take on the role of a struggling actor who finds himself trapped as a recurring character in multiple episodes of a TV show, from which he can’t escape before uncovering his role in each storyline. Players will encounter adventure style quests in which they set in motion key events through their actions within the game. In addition, as they find bits of the script in hidden object scenes across all the episodes, they learn more about the bizarre circumstances of their never-ending acting gig.

The Twilight Zone game will be available on Legacy Games for PC/Mac download at http://www.legacygames.com and at top retailers nationwide. Twilight Zone is licensed through CBS Consumer Products.
